[Purpose/significance] Library science, information science and archival science are important subjects to cultivate new type of information knowledge talents. This paper reveals the research hotspots and trends of Chinese and foreign periodicals in Library Information and Archives discipline during the 13th Five Year Plan period, in order to provide some ideas for the future subject research in China, which would promote the discipline development of Library Information and Archives and enhance the academic discourse power. [Method/process] This paper selected domestic CNKI and foreign web of science databases as the data sources, took the core journal papers of Library and information archives from 2016 to 2020 as the research samples, and used the visual software such as Citespace,VOSviewer and Gephi to reveal the research hotspots and development trends of Chinese and foreign periodicals. From the following aspects, the number of publication and citations, the distribution of co-occurrence and timely distribution of keywords, the research hotspots and development trends of Chinese and foreign periodicals were revealed. [Result/conclusion] During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the number of papers published in Chinese journals decreased slightly, while the number of papers published in foreign journals showed an upward trend. The research in the field of disciplines was gradually internationalized. The characteristics of research hotspots are as follows: the research topics are diversified; The research on related topics of "library" is gradually deepened. Chinese and foreign papers follow the research hotspots and trends of this subject closely, but each has its own emphasis. As a whole, papers in Chinese and foreign journals show a research trend of adhering to and deepening the traditional research field, integrating with other disciplines and expanding to the public domain.

[Purpose/significance] The research on the international publication, research hotspots and periodical characteristics of the Library and Information Science is helpful to promote the development of the subject and enhance its international discourse power. [Method/process] In this paper, we analyzed the key words frequency of papers published in high-impact foreign journals included by SCI and SSCI, and used HistCite, CiteSpace, SPSS and other tools to analyze the development of the chart in the past five years (2016-2020) from five aspects including current research status, high-impact scholars, highly cited papers, research hotspots, and cutting-edge trends. Through the annual change analysis of high-frequency keywords, four keywords with different trends were summarized, and the low-frequency keywords are perspectived. The development themes of humanity, technology and management were obtained. [Result/conclusion] With the continuous development of information technology and changes in the information environment, the themes of the Library and Information Science have been further extended and refined from traditional information services to knowledge services, and from research related to knowledge organization and management to the construction of knowledge organization systems, and the combination of theory and practice has become an important trend in the research of Library and Information Science.

[Purpose/significance] Reviewing the research progress of library information and archives in the past five years is conducive to grasping the structure and evolution of knowledge domains in subject areas. [Method/process] This paper used the method of bibliometrics to conduct a quantitative analysis of the 20 Chinese journals in the field of library information and archives from the perspective of the total papers, highly cited papers, academic influence, research hotspots, and research trend prediction. [Result/conclusion] From the perspective of the total number of articles published, the number of articles published in Chinese journals has decreased year by year, the proportion of foreign language journal articles in each year increases year by year and the research in the field has gradually been in line with international standards. In addition to continue to follow up basic theoretical research and practical innovation research, the subject area also maintains a high degree of attention to data research and digital humanities. In the context of the digital and digital data era, the discipline urgently needs to complete the reconstruction of the discipline system and capabilities, and the discipline transformation tends to data science and big data. Research in the subject area pays more attention to the user/reader’s experience and the research of resources co-construction and sharing.

[Purpose/significance] The national science fund programs are the main body of the funded projects in the humanities and social sciences in China. Therefore, the analysis of the fund programs during the 13th Five-Year Plan period is helpful to master the development of the subject of library, information and philology (including archival science) in the past five years. [Method/process] Based on fund program establishment, this paper summarized the development and changes of Library and Information Science during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, doing visual analysis of the project establishment number, project area distribution, outstanding achievements number, awards number, and research theme distribution of fund projects. [Result/conclusion] This paper finds that the number and quality of projects are steadily improving, and the number of projects awarded has increased compared with the "11th Five-Year Plan" and "12th Five-year Plan". The research hotspots of fund program mainly reflect the combination of traditional research fields and information technology, including digital library, intelligent service, digital construction, social media and Internet information technology, and the research on the digital humanities of archival science, the arrangement and utilization of ancient books and documents. The research trend of the fund programs is reflected in the close combination of Library and Information Science, digitalization and intelligence. Under the background of knowledge fusion, the research of health care and medical information reflects the integration of Library and Information Science and medical field.
