Theoretical Construction of Internalization of University Library Management System: An Exploratory Study Based on Grounded Theory

Abstract

[Purpose/significance] The internalization of library management system is the foundation of Library resource allocation and management innovation. This study aims to restore the internalization process of the management system within the library organization, and to explain the transformation mechanism among various levels of library. [Method/process] This paper constructs d a theoretical model of internalization of university library management system through the grounded theory research of three case libraries, this theoretical model comprehensively inspects the motivation and performance of internalization of university library management system from three dimensions: organizational internalization, process mechanism and librarian internalization, which covers 11 main categories, 41 categories and 164 initial concepts. [Result/conclusion] For the internalization of university library management system, the internalization foundation of the organizational adaptation should be constructed within the library organization firstly, and then the selection sets that have be matched and transformed the librarian level should be formed through the process mechanism. Finally, the librarian makes the management system internalized and transferred according to the rational calculation and the group consensus internalizing the internal norms of the organization.
