[Purpose/significance] This paper aims to explore the development and future of Interlibrary Loan.[Method/process] Based on the literature in Web of science core collection, this paper analyzed the distribution time, countries, institutions, authors, publications, research topics and cited reference using bibliometric method. On this basis, HisCite and CiteSpace were used to filter important relevant papers as reading and inducing subject, to analyze the subjects and the development of interlibrary loan and document delivery.[Result/conclusion] The development of interlibrary loan can be divided into four periods:the traditional period of interlibrary loan (before the 1980s), the rapid development of interlibrary loan research (1980-1990), the rapid rise of document delivery (1990-2000), the dynamic development (2000-2016).The role of future interlibrary loan librarians should be more diversified.
