Abstract

[Purpose/significance] The study aims to make a research review on user behavior of academic social networks through a citation analysis, and summarize its main research directions and the corresponding progress,to provide suggestions for the future study.[Method/process] It retrieves the papers on user behavior of academic social networks in a systematic way firstly and gains the sample literatures; then conducts a citation analysis to identify the highly reported keywords, the highly-cited articles and authors; after that, it carries a qualitative content analysis to sketch the main directions and process on user behavior of academic social networks; finally, it proposes suggestions for the future study.[Result/conclusion] The study concludes that, there are five directions of the study on user behaviors of academic social networks, including adoption, social network structure, behavior pattern, influencing factors and barriers, and each direction makes a moderate progress. However, it indicates that the existing study remains some problem, such as lack of sufficient study and underlying theories.
