[Purpose/significance]Based on comprehensive investigation and study, this article provides an open access repository framework and advice to public funders and research institutions. [Method/process]As a case study, by utilizing data from research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and using the open source software DSpace as its platform base, this article summarized the project achievements, including the framework, key technologies, interface design, data standard, data normalization, online statistics and the future development. [Result/conclusion]This project would promote the development of open access in China, accelerate the transformation of knowledge produced by public investment to society-wide innovation capacity, and help knowledge-driven social development.
