Design and Modularization of Teaching Contents of “Literature Retrieval and Utilization” Aiming at Cultivating Intelligence Literacy

[Purpose/significance] This paper discusses how to design the teaching contents, in order to let the curriculum ‘Literature Retrieval and Utilization’ have a great value.[Method/process] To meet the needs of society-improving people's ability solving problems by utilization of information, is the basic idea to design the contents. It is obtained, by analyzing, that the four key behavior elements for people to solve problems effectively with information are ‘search, analysis, inference, evaluation’, which are generalized and defined as a concept of intelligence literacy, meaning ability to make a rational choice with high quality information. Course contents are designed as a set of analysis methods to extract target intelligence from massive information open sources accordingly, and presented in four modules of ‘knowing source, knowing searching, knowing use and data management’.[Result/conclusion] The concept of intelligence literacy characterizes people's ability to utilize information to solve problems rationally. This ability can be improved by the curriculum, which has been proved by the students' studying outcomes-the curriculum reports.
