Exploration of Organizational Climate Optimization in Libraries: A Case Study in Nanjing Agricultural University Library

Abstract

[Purpose/significance] Organizational climate optimization helps to improve the librarians' satisfaction of the library and their work enthusiasm. Case analysis is helpful to promote organizational climate assessment in more libraries so as to provide support for management optimization.[Method/process] By learning from the practice of ClimateQUALTM assessment in American libraries and localizing it, Nanjing Agricultural University Library implemented the assessments in 2011 and 2015 separately, and then the library found the problems in the organization by analyzing data and optimizing the organization management continually. Thus, the library has completed the exploration of organizational climate optimization during the past four years.[Result/conclusion] According to the comparison of the data in two rounds of assessments, the organizational climate of Nanjing Agricultural University Library in 2015 is better than in 2011, especially in the climates of deep diversity, innovation, encouraging and competing, customer service and teamwork. It is confirmed that the organizational climate assessment is necessary and the measures of management innovation are effective.
