[Purpose/significance] This paper aims to provide guidance for Chinese universities to cultivate professional and innovative talents to satisfy the needs of big data era by the comparative analysis on the information literacy training models in Chinese and American universities.[Method/process] With literature collection, online survey and comparative analysis, this paper selects four universities in China and America as research samples, conducts a comparative analysis on their characteristics of information literacy training models under the big data environment, so as to provide the reference to the cultivation of information literacy ability in Chinese universities.[Result/conclusion] General education model focuses on the training of data consciousness and the information ethics of college students; platform training model based on software service focuses on the improvement of data and information analysis skills in big data environment, while education model based on embedded disciplines focuses on the training of practical abilities of students.
