Developing Sequence and Inspiration of Organizational Climate Assessment in American Libraries

Abstract

[Purpose/significance] This paper intends to get some inspirations through analyzing the development history of organizational climate assessment in American libraries, to provide reference for the relevant research and practice in Chinses libraries, and facilitate the management optimization and service improvement of Chinses libraries.[Method/process] Based on the analysis on the driving factors of generation, exploration and practice of assessment application, formation and optimization of assessment indicators, method and process of assessment etc., this paper systematically elaborates the developing sequence of organizational climate assessment in American libraries, and then analyzes the characteristics of the whole developing process.[Result/conclusion] In order to implement the organizational climate assessment in Chinese libraries on a large scale, firstly we should conduct a comprehensive study on the subject and adjust measures to local conditions, to design an assessment index system which reflect the Chinese culture; secondly should improve the organizational mechanism and encourage more libraries to participate in the practice, to implement a standard assessment model; finally should promote the management through evaluation and combination of evaluation and construction", to keep a good culture of assessment during the process of practical application.
