Abstract

[Purpose/significance]With the development of knowledge inside the discipline system and the breakthrough of information technology, the data objects of scientometrics study are becoming rich.In recent years, scientometrics study shows a rapid development trend in China. In this situation, to discriminate the different data objects and summarize the methodology of scientometrics becomes important.[Method/process]In this study, we classify the data objects into four types according to their features and functions, which are publish data, citation data, usage data and altmetrics data.We discuss the meanings and correlations among the four types of data objects, systemize the scientometrics research methods and summarize the related literatures.[Result/conclusion]On this basis, we construct the integrated analysis framework of scientometrics from data objects to research methodology and to functions and applications. The aim of this study is to make the scientometrics study more standardized and scientific.
