Research on Data Policies of Research Funding Agencies: Case Study of British and American Research Councils

[Purpose/significance] Research data management plays an important role to support the open science and scholarly communication system. Practice experiment of research data management policies in foreign libraries offers enlightenment to research funding agencies and information service institution in China.[Method/process] By using literature review and desktop study, we analyze the contents of data management policies of major international funding agencies。[Result/conclusion] Data storage specification in research funding agencies includes the type, standard, location and period. Management plan, power-responsibility mechanism, supervisory mechanism and the premium and penalty mechanism is involved in data quality supervision policies. Data communication policies consist of privacy protection, delimitation of knowledge property and the openness levels.
