Beacon Applications in Mobile Library Location Based Service

[Purpose/significance] For the growing need of location based service in library, this paper develops an application scheme for mobile library location based service using Beacon technology. [Method/process] The paper analyzes the development, principle, the current state of research and application of Beacon technology, and then compares the advantages, disadvantages and applicable scope of Beacon with RFID and NFC. [Result/conclusion] Proposes that the application scheme for mobile library location based service using Beacon technology is better than the existing library LBS in the aspect of context aware, usability and cost. The application scheme includes Seamless Check-in Service, Scenario Interactive Service, and Sticky Promotion Service. These applications will strengthen the interactive between library and users; make the mobile library service be more aware of user's context.
