Analysis on Application of Linked Open Data to Digital Humanities: A Case Study on the Linked Jazz Project

Linked Jazz Project is a signature explorative project in the area of linked open data and digital humanities.Linked Jazz focuses on investigating the potential of the application of linked open data technology to enhance the discovery and visibility of digital cultural heritage materials.The goal of this project is to help uncover meaningful connections between documents and data related to the personal and professional lives of musicians who often practice in rich and diverse social networks.This paper makes an introduction to the background,content,development process and key issues of Linked Jazz Project,hoping that it can bring in enlightments for domestic study as follows: to publish Chinese name authority linked data,to select and map existing ontologies,to maximize transcript source,and to use the way of crowdsourcing.
