A Review on Social Tags Mining Study in China and Abroad

Abstract

This paper introduces the related background and conception of social tags. Then it presents the current research achievements on social tags mining at home and abroad. On the one hand it summarizes methods including social tags analysis, social tags recommendation and social tag-based personal recommendation, and on the other hand it sketches out that exploiting social tags helps improving information retrieval, discovering potential interests, building ontology and enhancing traditional classification. And it also concludes the existing drawbacks. Further, it discusses the applications of social tags mining on some related domains. With a summarization, it finally looks to the future development on social tags mining.
