Present Situation, Issues and Solutions of Foreign Language E-books Acquisitions and Services in Chinese University Libraries

By investigating the present types of foreign language e-books introduced by China and the numbers of electronic books collected by different libraries, this paper finds out that the present foreign language e-books subscription models in university libraries mainly include two modes of subscription mode and the buyout mode, and the libraries mainly use two service modes of link service and integration service. There are not too much methods of introducing foreign language e-books, the libraries should strengthen cooperation on e-books purchasing and encourage their suppliers to upgrade services. It is difficult to guarantee the permanent access rights, they should strengthen the consciousness of achieving long-term storage of e-books service, strive for the ownership and long-term preservation rights of foreign language e-books. The service level is generally low, they should strive for sufficient permissions, strengthen the integration of e-books and the publicity and training ability.
