Design and Achievement of the Semantic Retrieval & Analysis System Based on Domain Ontology

As most of the latest technology methods were revealed in patent documentations, enterprise information departments have to deal with a key issue which is how to make good use of patent documentations. This paper has built a semantic retrieval & analysis system on the basis of domain ontology. This system contains such modules as semantic retrieval, trend analysis, similar patents detection, and important patents detection. With this system, domain ontology-based patent semantic retrieval and patent mining can be achieved. In addition, tests have been carried out on the Chinese patents classified as C21 in the IPC system. It has been proved that the recall ratio of semantic retrieval is greatly improved after ontology expansion, which in turn makes the subsequent patent analysis and mining more effective, and thus contributes to the further implementation of patent mining.
