An Overview of Research on Image Information Needs

Based on the hierarchical features of image information needs, this paper discusses literature from the research issues, content, methods and related theoretical bases and provides a research framework of image information needs. Then it analyzes the researches that take the method of investigation to explore the specialized and daily image needs, including related projects. At the same time, it also analyzes the researches that use log analysis to investigate specialized image systems, search engines and online question and answer services. Finally, it points out the future directions in the study of image information needs.
