Study on Interactive Query Expansion Based on User’s Perspective

Abstract

The traditional query expansion method cannot disambiguate the semantic deviation and ambiguity between users' query intensions and search results, while the interactive one can effectively help users quickly and accurately find the information they need from the mass of network resources, that provides users with satisfactory results.Based on literature research and questionnaires, this paper conducts an empirical analysis on the usage and demand of interactive query expansion, the reasons why people use it, and its evaluation and recommendations.It also proposes that the future research priorities and main developing trends include simple operating mode, personalized query expansion, humanized interactive display, precise search results and mobile search environment.
