To solve the problem in evaluating authors with h index that there will be a lot of authors with same credits and leads to senseless measurement, this paper designs a hi index which is more powerful and can be used in more wide-ranging. It elaborates the definition, principles, and method of hi index, and uses it to evaluate 175 authors of library and information science to verify its effect. Finally, the paper compares hi index with some other types of h index and defines their applied ranges. This paper indicates that the most advantage of hi index is that identificated and cited works play roles together throughout the whole evaluation.
