Library Users’ Demand Spillover

Based on the research of the library user information activities, this paper proposes the concept of library users’ demand spillover. Library users’ demand spillover is influenced by the intrinsic factors such as limitless, finiteness and hierarchy of demand and library core value, and by the realistic factors such as the finiteness of library service ability, dissimilarity of different services, library public choice under institutional transition, library environment and user environment, and user mentality. Library users’ demand spillover could promote the progress of library, improve its whole service level and innovation ability, and intensify the competition of users’ demand for resources among libraries. Users’ demand will be mined, magnified and satisfied. It serves as a model for spillover of upstream and downstream library to accelerate the formation of Matthew Effect between libraries and library users.
