Abstract

[Purpose/significance] This study aims to summarize the research status of researchers'behaviors on social network sites and to propose several noteworthy research directions for the future study. [Method/process] We use a two- stage method including keywords search and citation trackback to collect literatures on this topic followed with a systematical and profound analysis. [Result/conclusion] The collection composed of 63 articles, which can be classified into 5 categories including the functionalities and types of SNS for academic purpose, demographic characteristics, motivations, content generation and access behaviors, and group interaction behaviors. It is concluded that the future researches can be carried out in 4 areas including:1) the embedding mechanism of SNS in research processes; 2) the behavior based on global data; 3) the mechanism of continuous usage of SNS by researchers; 4) the empirical studies of socialization of S&T information system.
