A Review of Overseas Research and Education Practice of Community Informatics

[Purpose/significance] This paper aims to use overseas CI research and education's experiences as references for domestic development. [Method/process] Based on network investigation and document analysis, the paper summarizes current status of overseas CI education and research, including CI curriculum design, CI teaching methods, CI researching organizations, CI academic conferences, and CI academic journals. [Result/conclusion] Results show that the practices of overseas CI education and research has a project-oriented and research-education integrated model as follows: ①the practices of CI research and education have been combined and supported each other tightly;② the practices of CI research and education have been benefited from strong funds;③CI research and education highlights on practices;④CI research and education pays attention to methodology.
