The paper combines the research methods of search experiments and questionnaire, analyzes the frequency of, the causes and ways to information encountering in digital libraries under two experimental situations of task-searching and no-task-browsing, and compares the influence of the informational factors and personal factors of information encountering in daily information seeking, as well as the after-encountering behavior. Studies have shown that: no-task-browsing context is more prone to information encountering, and related topics, recommendation mechanisms and related collection are main ways to encountering. Meanwhile, usefulness evaluation, information analysis and comparison, needs express, catchy title and popularity are the main factors.
