This paper, taking a middle school in Snzhou as an example, examines whether there is a positive relationship between usage of school libraries and students’ academic achievements, what services make this correlation possible, and how school libraries help students. The result shows that, in the current educational context, the usage of school media center has no statistically relationship with students’ academic achievements; in the perspective of students and teachers, school library does help students in different ways, but the outcomes are not quite obvious; only three services provided by library could effect text scores; the school library mainly help improving pupils’ reading ability. The research further reveals that, China’s educational status covered and limited the value of school libraries, which pays more attention to the form of competence-based education than its connotation.
