SNS is a new domain of libraries to expand services. Based on clarifying the connotation of SNS,this paper summarizes the researches on the application of SNS in libraries from both domestic and abroad, and analyzes the research achievement, research contents and existing problems from four aspects, including the research of the behavior, needs and attitudes of users, theoretical discussion of using SNS to extend library services, the research of technology and models on integrating SNS with library services, and the research of application practices of SNS in libraries. This research shows that the study on the application of SNS in libraries has not matured, and it needs to be expanded in both breadth and depth.
